FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Centreville, VA - Today, the Fairfax County Federation of Teachers announced their endorsement of Stella Pekarsky for Congress. FCFT, a local affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, which represents teachers, counselors, librarians, teaching assistants, clerical employees, bus drivers, custodians, food service, and other staff who work hard to ensure that our students succeed.

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the Fairfax County Federation of Teachers in my race for Congress. FCFT represents some of the most hard-working people in our district who keep our public education system one of the best in the country. As a former teacher and school board member, I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our public school staff and teachers and beat back any attempt to cut funding or attack curriculum in our public schools.”

Stella is proud to be a fierce ally of our public school teachers. On the school board, Stella passed the landmark resolution that granted collective bargaining rights to Fairfax County schools. In the State Senate, she fought to secure unprecedented levels of funding to our public schools, including raises for our teachers.

In Congress, Stella will stand up to Trump’s dismantling of the department of education and fight to make sure our public schools are getting the support they need to better educate our students and pay our teachers adequate salaries.

With FCFT’s endorsement, Stella has secured the support and faith of one of the largest groups of public sector workers in the district. She is the first candidate in the race to receive an endorsement from a labor union.
